About Dr. Vanburg

I’m not a politician - I’m a public servant.

I’m the daughter of an immigrant, and both of my parents are veterans. Service wasn’t optional in my family — it was expected. When I was nine, my family moved to the Hill Country. I went to elementary, middle, and high school in Bandera. I grew up right here in Texas 21.

I double-majored in Government and History at UT Austin, earned my Master’s in Counseling at St. Edward’s, and completed my doctorate at Our Lady of the Lake in San Antonio. I am a clinical psychologist, and my work has always focused on service and contribution to society.

I began my career on the PTSD Clinical Team at the Audie Murphy VA Hospital and later served at the Kerrville outpatient clinic. Today, I work as a data analyst, tracking the well-being of recruits as they move through basic training.

For me, public service has never been about titles — it’s about hard work, accountability, and showing up for my community. That’s the same dedication I’m bringing to this campaign, because our district deserves leadership that works as hard as the people who call it home.

I’ll be honest — I didn’t always think my vote counted in Bandera County. Now I’m running to make sure it does.

About Texas 21

Bandera, Bexar (partial), Blanco, Comal, Gillespie, Hays (partial), Kendall, Kerr, Real

We are the very heart of Texas.

Texas’s 21st Congressional District is powered by its people — educators, healthcare workers, public servants, builders, and small business owners. From the classrooms, where dedicated teachers do more with less, to the hospitals and clinics that care for our families, this district is where hard work meets heart.

Here, we swim in clear rivers, dance in old Hill Country dancehalls, and cruise backroads carved through limestone hills. This place teaches grit, resiliency, and pride — give more than you take, respect the land, and look out for your neighbor.

President Lyndon B. Johnson, the first Texan to lead the nation, was born right here in Texas’s 21st. His legacy of putting public service ahead of personal agenda still echoes in the spirit of this place — fairness, opportunity, and the understanding that government serves the people, not the other way around.

Now it’s our turn to carry that legacy forward.

What I stand for

Progressive principles. Practical solutions. People, not politics.

Democracy That Works

When they make it harder for people to vote, they are choosing who counts. I believe no one should fear their government. I believe in due process, in participation, and in a system that lifts people up instead of shutting them out. Because when democracy works, people thrive. When it doesn’t, only the powerful win. Here is the work we need to get done:

  • I support bold federal action to guarantee access to the ballot and end partisan manipulation of elections. In this Congress, H.R. 158 requires independent, nonpartisan commissions for congressional redistricting, and H.R. 4889 prohibits mid-decade congressional redistricting after a census. I also support strong national standards for early voting, vote-by-mail, and registration so voting does not depend on your zip code, work schedule, or the party in power.

Let’s expand early voting, end voter roll purges, and support automatic & same-day registration.

  • I will fight to end gerrymandering so voters choose their representatives, not the other way around. Fair maps are the foundation of legitimate government.

You are entitled to representation in our government. Period. We need independent redistricting commissions to preserve the right for ALL Texans to cast ballots that count.

  • I will do everything humanly possible to repeal Citizens United and overturn the idea that corporations have unlimited political speech. Until that happens, I support strict campaign finance limits, transparency, and public financing to reduce the influence of wealth in our elections.

I will support a constitutional amendment to overturn Citizens United. Our government serves you. Not politicians, not corporations.

  • Just because it is, doesn’t mean it ought to be. In Texas, we have a long history of disrespecting voter rights. I want federal oversight in all states with a history of voter suppression. Because I think your Constitutional Rights are non-negotiable.

  • People should not fear being harassed, stalked, or doxxed for doing their jobs or speaking out. I support making doxxing a federal crime and strengthening protections for personal data, online privacy, and digital security.

  • An agency with the power to detain, deport, and use force must be held to the highest democratic standards. I support immediate congressional oversight, strict limits on funding through the appropriations process, an end to private detention contracts, and clear statutory limits on ICE’s authority. Long term, I will work to dismantle enforcement models that operate without transparency or accountability and replace them with systems rooted in due process and human rights. Full policy detail is provided in the Policy Positions section.

  • Immigration policy is not just about borders. It is about due process, equal protection under the law, and whether the government can deprive people of liberty without accountability. I support comprehensive immigration reform that creates lawful, humane pathways to status and citizenship while restoring trust in our legal system. Detailed policy proposals are outlined in the Policy Positions section.

An Everyone Economy

It's We the People, not we the poor. The purpose of your time here on earth is not to make someone else rich. If you work full-time, you should be able to pay your bills, go to the doctor, and enjoy time off with your family and friends. The economy doesn’t just “happen” — it’s built by policy. And right now, it’s rigged -and not in our favor. We need our dollars to go toward the people by taxing wealth instead of work. Here’s how:

  • I proudly support Rep. Al Green’s Raise the Wage Act (for example, H.R. 2743 in the 119th Congress) to increase the federal minimum wage and make sure work pays. No one working full-time should live in poverty.

  • Working people should not shoulder the whole load while wealth and corporate power avoid accountability. I support closing loopholes, taxing extreme wealth fairly, and ensuring corporations pay what they owe so our dollars go toward people, not just profits, and we can finally reinvest in our communities.

  • Workers are the heart of the economy - they deserve power at the table. The only reason to eliminate unions is to empower corporations.

  • No more public funding for companies that underpay, pollute, or exploit.

  • People deserve benefits and protections that follow them. I support portable benefits, stronger labor standards, and enforcement that prevents employers from misclassifying workers and stripping them of rights.

  • I support a modern, phased-in Medicare for All system that guarantees comprehensive care without premiums or surprise bills. This approach lowers costs immediately, eliminates medical debt, and frees workers from job-lock while building toward universal coverage.

  • Public education should be a public investment. I support tuition-free public college and major student debt relief so young people can build lives, not just service loans.

Take Back Texas

Texas isn’t broken. It’s being sabotaged. Our grid failed and people died. Our prisons are run for profit and land us on international human rights watch lists. Meanwhile, powerful interests think they can redraw our districts and strip Texans of their rights to serve their own political aims. It’s time to remind the government that they serve us, not the other way around.

  • Healthcare is a human right, not a luI will fight for federal oversight and investment to ensure Texas families are never again left freezing or without power because of deregulation and neglect.

  • In TX-21, water is the fight. I support protecting water rights, regulating irresponsible development, and ensuring Texas land and resources serve Texans, not speculators.

  • Where you live should not determine whether your air is clean or your water is safe. I support clean energy that builds real jobs in rural places while protecting Texas communities from pollution and corporate abuse.

  • I oppose for-profit prisons and will work to end federal contracts that incentivize incarceration over rehabilitation and human dignity.

  • Texans deserve fair maps, fair rules, and a government that does not treat communities like chess pieces. I will fight efforts to weaken voting power through manipulation of districts or intimidation of public servants.

What's on your mind?

Dr. Regina Vanburg is taking to the streets in TX 21 to find out what so many other politicians fear most...the things voters actually care about. Check back here to see when we will be in your neighborhood.

November 22, 2025

1:00pm - 4:00pm

Fredericksburg, TX

On November 22nd, find us downtown interviewing residents and those passing by about your needs, fears, and what you're looking for in a congressional representative.

See you there!!

Looking for a fight? Start here:

Defeat the S.A.V.E. Act:

This bill makes registering to vote harder by requiring proof of citizenship in person. In TX‑21, it threatens seniors, women who’ve changed names, and rural families.
Call Rep. Chip Roy at (202) 225‑4236 and tell him: don’t restrict our vote—expand it!

Restore FEMA to Flood Victims

When TX‑21 needed help after flooding, FEMA’s phone lines went dead due to funding lapses. Lives might have been lost. That’s unacceptable.
Call Sen. Ted Cruz at (202) 224‑5922 and say: stop defunding FEMA—restore support for disaster relief!

Stop Washington’s Redistricting Play

Texans are not chess pieces. Redrawing maps mid-cycle to benefit politicians is a direct insult to voters across TX‑21. Call Sen. Ted Cruz at (202) 224‑5922 and remind him: government serves us, not the career politicians.

Stop the OBBB Medicaid Cuts:

Starting October 2028, the so-called “One Big Beautiful Bill” slashes Medicaid by nearly $1 trillion over the next decade, devastating rural hospitals in areas like TX‑21.
Call Sen. Ted Cruz at (202) 224‑5922 and demand no cuts to essential healthcare!

End ICE Raids & Military Misuse

Federal money shouldn’t be funding ICE raids or the deployment of U.S. troops against American citizens. In TX‑21, this means community trust is eroding fast. Call Rep. Chip Roy at (202) 225‑4236 and demand he defend Texans—not dismantle our rights.

Release the Epstein Files

Texans deserve accountability and transparency from Washington. The full Epstein files must be released. No more backroom cover-ups,
Call Rep. Chip Roy at (202) 225‑4236 and demand he stand for truth—not secrecy. Tell him you want H.R. 581 voted on pronto.

Join Our Campaign

This fight is for all of us — because TX-21 is all of us. I don’t care if you’re Republican, Democrat, Independent, unaffiliated, disillusioned, or undecided — and neither does democracy. I’d be honored to have you join my campaign to fight for the future we all deserve.
